Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Minutini' is a miniature cultivar derived from a cross between *H.* 'Pilgrim' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Shining Tot' (pollen parent). It forms the smallest mound in the 'tini' series of hostas, distinguished by its dense, compact habit and blue-green foliage with a glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a height of 4 inches (10.2 cm), with a mound-like growth form and fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. The ovate leaves, measuring 2.13 inches (5.4 cm) long and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, feature pale green flat margins, five vein pairs, and a lightly wavy texture; the scape is green and reaches 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small, dense habit may reduce vulnerability to some pests.
