Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Meteor Shower' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from the pod parent *H.* 'Galaxy' (pollen parent unknown). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with flat, creamy white margins that are streaked with medium green and cream, producing a variegated, mottled effect; the leaves also bear a glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
'Meteor Shower' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching approximately 13 inches (33 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter. Its ovate, lightly wavy leaves, each 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide with 8 to 9 vein pairs, make it suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials, and its medium size allows use in mixed borders or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
