Overview
Registered in 1986 by F. Shaw and A. Summers through the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Marble Rim' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its medium green leaves edged with creamy white margins, a color contrast that gives the plant its name.
In the Garden
'Marble Rim' reaches a mature spread of approximately 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter and a height of 11 inches (27.9 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or epimediums. Its compact size also makes it a good candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Marble Rim' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
