Overview
Registered in 1986 by E. Fisher and the American Hosta Society, 'Lucky Charm' is a medium-sized variegated hosta derived from a hybrid of *Hosta nakaiana*. Its visual distinction lies in the combination of dull medium green leaves with slight undulating margins and a compact, mounded habit.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature spread of approximately 52 inches (132 cm) and a height of 19 inches (48 cm), with scapes rising 22 to 34 inches (56 to 86 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded containers. The medium size and muted green foliage allow it to pair effectively with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the slightly undulate leaf margins offer minimal resistance.
