Overview
Registered in 1986 by F. Williams and C. Williams, *Hosta* 'Louisa' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its green leaves with white margins and its relatively tall scapes, which rise well above the foliage.
In the Garden
'Hosta' reaches a mature diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact size also makes it a good candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate control measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
