Overview
Registered in 2009, 'Long Fellow' is a sport of a *Hosta* 'Bravo' line splashed seedling, distinguished by its unusually elongated, lanceolate leaves that combine length with a flowing, graceful form. The foliage is light green with creamy white to pale-yellow margins, measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) wide, with four vein pairs and a very shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
This small-sized cultivar forms a mound 18 inches (45.7 cm) high and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its compact dimensions make it suitable for container culture or front-of-border positions. The narrow, flowing leaves pair well with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Long Fellow' may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing; monitor accordingly in typical hosta-growing zones.
