Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Little Miss Magic' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Estralita'* and *H. 'Tardiflora'*. It forms a tight, mound-like clump of lanceolate leaves that emerge bright yellow with slightly rippled, yellow margins, gradually maturing to light green with gold margins.
In the Garden
'Little Miss Magic' reaches approximately 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its compact size makes it well-suited for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or low-growing shade perennials that complement its bright foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
