Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, *Hosta* 'Little Doll' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Breeder's Choice'* and *H. 'Blue Shadows'*. It is visually distinguished by its broadly ovate to near-round, medium blue-green leaves with a thin glaucous bloom beneath, each bordered by a 0.5-inch (1.3 cm) wide, yellow to creamy white, slightly rippled margin; the leaf surface is moderately corrugated and bears ten pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Little Doll' reaches a mature spread of approximately 34 inches (86.4 cm) and a height of 15 inches (38.1 cm), with a semi-upright growth habit. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, woodland borders, or as edging. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
