H. ‘Linde’

Registered in 1987 by P. Ruh and P. Hofer, 'Linde' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from hybrid parentage. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with gray-blue margins, a combination that creates a muted, cool-toned foliage effect.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a clump 21 inches (53.3 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height, with individual leaves reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for woodland borders, shade gardens, or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees. Its medium size makes it appropriate for mid-border positions or as a filler in mixed shade plantings; it is not typically recommended for containers due to its mature spread.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Linde' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
