Overview
Registered in 2011, 'Lime Tiara' is a small sport of *Hosta* 'Emerald Scepter' distinguished by its variegated foliage with medium green, slightly rippled margins and very shiny leaf surfaces on both sides. The ovate leaves, measuring 5 inches long by 3 inches wide with cordate bases and moderate waviness, emerge from a mound-like plant that reaches 12 inches in height and 24 inches in diameter.
In the Garden
This fast-growing small hosta performs best in partial to full shade, forming a compact mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or woodland settings. Its modest size and shiny foliage make it an effective groundcover beneath deciduous trees or a container specimen on shaded patios. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small sedges complement its neat habit.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Lime Tiara' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small stature may make it easier to protect with barriers or repellents.
