H. ‘Lime Knack’

Overview

Registered in 2012, *Hosta* 'Lime Knack' is a miniature variegated cultivar derived from *H.* 'Lakeside Knick Knack' as pod parent and an unknown seedling as pollen parent. Its visual distinction lies in the combination of lime to pale green leaf margins with green veins, creating a subtle two-tone effect on a very small plant.

In the Garden

'Lime Knack' forms a compact mound 7 inches (17.8 cm) tall and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to light shade, typical for hostas, and its miniature size makes it well suited for troughs, rock gardens, or the front of a shaded border. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera* cultivars, or other miniature hostas.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Lime Knack' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small stature may make slug control more manageable.
