Overview
Registered in 1986 by P. Aden, this miniature hosta arose from an unknown pod parent pollinated by *Hosta* 'Chartreuse Wiggles'. Its distinguishing feature is a narrow, upright leaf with a green center and yellow undulating margins, borne on a compact, semi-stoloniferous plant.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 4 inches (10.2 cm) and height of 3.5 inches (8.9 cm), 'Lights Up' is suited to the front of a border, rock garden, or trough. Its small size and upright habit make it an excellent candidate for container culture. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during active growth, particularly in containers. Fertilize lightly in early spring as new shoots emerge. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
