Overview

Registered in 1977 by R. Savory, this miniature hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta nakaiana*. It is visually distinctive for its small, lance-shaped green leaves with chartreuse gold margins, forming a compact mound 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

‘Lemon Lime’ is well suited to partial shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature size of approximately 5 inches in height and 7 inches in spread. Its diminutive stature makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border, where it pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. It is also well adapted to container cultivation, given its miniature habit.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
