Registered in 2008 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Willy Nilly', 'Lean on Me' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its substantial blue-green leaves with broad gold margins. The foliage exhibits a glaucous bloom on the upper surface, with lightly wavy, moderately corrugated texture and slightly rippled margins.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach approximately 29 inches (73.7 cm) in height and 60 inches (152.4 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate rate of expansion. This cultivar performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, where its blue-green centers contrast effectively with the gold edge. Its large scale makes it suitable as a specimen or focal point in shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Lean on Me' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
