Overview
Registered in 2002 by Mary Chastain, this self-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Knickknack' produces a miniature mound of lance-shaped leaves with light lime margins against a darker green center. The foliage is dull on both surfaces, lightly folded, and bears three to four pairs of veins.
In the Garden
Reaching 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter at maturity, 'Lakeside Lime Tart' forms a compact, fast-growing clump suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade with consistent moisture. Its small stature makes it an excellent choice for container culture or as an edging plant alongside other miniature hostas or small ferns.
Care Notes
Provide regular water during dry periods, particularly in full sun exposure, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
