Overview
Registered in 1994 by an unknown breeder, 'Lakeside Delight' is a large hosta cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with yellow-gold margins. The foliage is dull on both surfaces, with a cordate base and slightly rippled margins, producing a substantial mound of 13-inch-long leaves.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a clump 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall, with a semi-upright habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border. The yellow-gold margins brighten darker areas, and the plant pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard hosta pest precautions apply: slug and deer damage may occur in some gardens.
