Overview

Registered in 2009 as an open-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Color Fantasy', 'Lady Amy' is a large cultivar distinguished by its broad, blue-green leaves with creamy white margins and an upright, gently cascading habit. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, slightly folded, and possess a glaucous bloom on the undersides, while the flat, 0.5-inch (1.3 cm) white margins and subtle waviness give the foliage a floating appearance above the ground.

In the Garden

'Lady Amy' reaches a mature spread of 48 inches (121.9 cm) and a height of 24 inches (61.0 cm), with scapes rising 42 to 44 inches (106.7 to 111.8 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its upright form makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen plant. The large, variegated leaves pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that contrast in texture or color.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in the local environment.
