Overview
Registered in 1999 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Kiwi Minnie Gold' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with golden yellow, slightly rippled margins and very shiny undersides. The leaf blades measure 2 inches (5.1 cm) long by 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, with four vein pairs and a dull upper surface.
In the Garden
'Kiwi Minnie Gold' forms a compact mound 5.9 inches (15.0 cm) tall and 11.8 inches (30.0 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It is suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, and pairs well with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or woodland groundcovers such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella*. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation in typical hosta-growing zones.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small leaves may be less appealing to browsing animals than larger cultivars.
