Overview
Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Kiwi Minnie Blue' is a miniature cultivar derived from *H. sieboldiana* as both seed and pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green leaf margins and compact, mound-like habit, reaching only 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in height and 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
This miniature hosta is best suited to partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage retains its color. Mature plants form a low, dense mound approximately 6 inches across, making them ideal for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella*; it is also well suited to container cultivation due to its slow growth and diminutive size.
Care Notes
Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil and water regularly during dry periods. Fertilize lightly in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaves offer moderate slug resistance, but standard slug control measures may still be necessary in damp conditions.
