Overview
A giant sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Angel' registered by the Kiwi Hosta Society in 2000, 'Kiwi Milky Way' is distinguished by its large, medium green leaves with streaked margins and a dull surface on both sides. The foliage emerges with a distinctive variegated pattern, while the scapes reach up to 47 inches (119.4 cm) and display green streaked with gold.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 33.5 inches (85.1 cm) and a height of 25.6 inches (65.0 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or in mixed borders where its foliage can contrast with finer-textured perennials such as ferns or astilbes. The tall scapes and gold-streaked flowers add vertical interest in mid- to late summer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for this large-leaved cultivar.
