Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Kiwi Cream Edge' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its blue-green leaves with narrow, white, slightly rippled margins and a thin glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its moderate size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and shade-tolerant grasses.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slugs and deer, the slightly corrugated leaf texture may offer minor resistance to slug damage.
