Overview

Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Kathy Sorensen' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Are You There' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Shining Tot' (pollen parent). Its most distinctive feature is the extreme streaking in all hosta colors across deep, wavy, pointed leaves, combined with a blue-green base color and heavy rippled margins.

In the Garden

Reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, this upright, fast-growing hosta is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved cultivars, where its glaucous bloom and muted leaf surface are best appreciated. Pair with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera* to contrast its broad, ovate leaves with cordate bases.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and protect as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
