Overview
Registered in 1986 by F. Williams and C. Williams, *Hosta* 'Kathleen' is a small variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. Its leaves are distinguished by green margins surrounding a lighter center, with six pairs of veins per leaf.
In the Garden
Reaching 11 inches (27.9 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, 'Kathleen' is suited to the front of shaded borders or rock gardens. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation. It pairs well with other small hostas or fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Kathleen' may be damaged by slugs and deer in typical hosta-growing zones.
