Overview
Registered in 2008, *Hosta* 'Karamoosh' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, derived from *Hosta* 'Sophistication' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its tricolor variegation: a blue-green leaf center with a wide, variable white margin that matures to cream, often with a subtle intermediate zone.
In the Garden
'Karamoosh' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage and light margins hold color well. The broadly ovate, lightly corrugated leaves with a glaucous bloom beneath make it suitable for mid-border placement or as a specimen among ferns, heucheras, or other shade perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas in typical hosta-growing zones.
