Overview

Registered in 1994 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Hyacinthina', 'Julia' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy white margins. The foliage is slightly shiny above with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the leaf base is rounded.

In the Garden

'Julia' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 32 inches (81.3 cm) and a height of 16 inches (40.6 cm), with a semi-upright growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials such as heucheras. Its compact size makes it suitable for container cultivation or edging in shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Julia' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so monitor and protect accordingly.
