Overview

Registered in 1982 by K. Anderson, this miniature hosta forms dense, semi-stoloniferous clumps. Its distinguishing feature is the dark green leaf blade edged with creamy white margins, a color combination that remains crisp throughout the growing season. Parentage is unknown.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, making them suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. Like most hostas, 'Jadette' performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture. Its small scale pairs well with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or woodland groundcovers such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella*. The compact habit also suits container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, foliage may be damaged by slugs and deer; monitoring and appropriate controls are recommended in typical hosta-growing zones.
