Overview
Registered in 1985 by R. Savory, this medium-sized hosta is a hybrid of *H. sieboldiana*. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with gold margins, a color combination that matures to blue-gray with yellow edges as the season progresses.
In the Garden
'Hosta of Diamonds' reaches a mature height of 16 inches (40.6 cm) and a spread of 20 inches (50.8 cm), making it suitable for the middle of a shaded border or as a specimen in a woodland garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue tones are most pronounced, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size also allows for container cultivation in larger pots.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
