Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Shade Parade', registered in 2010, 'Itty Gold' forms a small, compact mound of round, deeply cupped leaves with golden yellow margins and green centers. The cultivar is distinguished by its deeply corrugated, moderately wavy foliage and its small overall stature, reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
'Itty Gold' is suited for partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and performs best in well-drained, organically rich soil. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders, where its bright leaf margins provide contrast against darker green or blue-leaved companions such as *Hosta* 'Halcyon' or ferns. The plant has a moderate growth rate and forms a tidy, mound-like habit.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry spells, particularly in containers, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Itty Gold' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; routine monitoring and protective measures are recommended in areas where these pests are prevalent.
