Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' is a miniature cultivar derived from *Hosta* 'Hadspen Heron' (pod parent) with an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its extremely narrow, lance-shaped leaves of slightly blue-green coloration, forming a compact, low mound.
In the Garden
This miniature hosta reaches a mature diameter of approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) and a height of 2 inches (5.1 cm), with a slow, mound-like growth habit. It is best suited to partial to full shade, as typical for the genus, and performs well in rock gardens, troughs, or as a front-of-border accent. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the diminutive foliage may be less appealing to deer than larger-leaved cultivars.
