Overview
Registered in 2006, this miniature hosta forms a compact mound of lance-shaped, dark green leaves edged with narrow, creamy white margins. The leaf surfaces are dull above and shiny beneath, with slightly rippled margins measuring 0.2 to 0.3 cm wide. Its lineage combines *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash', *H. tibae*, *H. venusta*, and 'Shining Tot'.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Imp' reaches a mature spread of approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) and a height of 3 inches (7.6 cm), making it suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other miniature perennials such as *Heuchera* or small ferns. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container culture.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small, firm leaves are less appealing to slugs than larger-leaved cultivars.
