Hosta ‘Hush Puppie’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2005
Section classV-5b

Overview

Registered in 2005, this miniature hosta resulted from a complex cross involving *Hosta venusta* as the pollen parent and an open-pollinated seedling derived from *H.* 'Beatrice'. The cultivar is distinguished by its small, ovate leaves of medium green with narrow, yellow, slightly rippled margins, forming a compact mound.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 16 inches (40.6 cm) and height of 5.5 inches (14.0 cm), 'Hush Puppie' is well suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to light shade and combines effectively with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or fine-textured groundcovers. Its fast growth rate and small size make it an excellent candidate for container culture.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in containers. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
