Overview

Registered in 2002 by J. Wilkins, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Dorset Blue' (pollen parent). It is distinguished by its broadly ovate, medium blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white, slightly rippled margins, a sharp border between the two colors, and noticeable corrugation.

In the Garden

'Hunters Ridge' forms a mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its medium size and striking variegation make it an effective companion for ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and take protective measures if needed.
