Overview

Registered in 1998 by P. Ruh, this miniature variegated cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Lancifolia'. It forms a low, slow-growing mound of narrow, medium green leaves with slightly rippled margins, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a very shiny underside.

In the Garden

'Humor' reaches a mature spread of approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) and a height of 3.5 inches (8.9 cm), with scapes rising 12 to 14.5 inches (30.5 to 36.8 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones. Its compact size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border, where it can be paired with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor and manage as needed.
