Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Honeysong' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its dark green, corrugated leaves with broad creamy white margins and a mound-like growth habit.
In the Garden
'Honeysong' forms a dense, rounded clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 35 inches (88.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. The broad, variegated foliage provides textural contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or fine-leaved grasses. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slugs and deer, the corrugated leaf texture of 'Honeysong' may offer slight resistance to slug damage.
