Section classIII-2

Overview

Registered in 2003, this medium-sized cultivar arose from a hybrid of two unnamed seedlings. It is visually distinctive for its heavily rippled, blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom beneath, combined with golden yellow scapes that contrast with the foliage.

In the Garden

'Honey Hill Piece o' Pie' forms an upright mound reaching 27 inches (68.6 cm) in height and 52 inches (132.1 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-green hostas, where its leaf color remains truest. Its substantial size and bold texture make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders alongside ferns, heucheras, and other medium hostas.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
