Overview

Registered in 2006 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Royal Mouse Ears', 'Holy Mouse Ears' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its nearly round, blue-green leaves with creamy white centers and flat, blue-green margins. The leaves measure 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) long and 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, bearing a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and 9 to 10 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, where it can be paired with other small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
