H. ‘Holiday White’

Overview

Registered in 1990 by Fairway Enterprises, *Hosta* 'Holiday White' is a small-sized sport of *H. fortunei* 'Aureomarginata' (H. Krossa L-7). Its leaves are medium green with white margins, a pattern that distinguishes it from the yellow-margined parent.

In the Garden

'Holiday White' reaches a mature size of 10 inches (25.4 cm) in both height and diameter, with individual leaves measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide, bearing six to seven vein pairs. It performs best in partial to full shade and is well-suited for small garden spaces, rock gardens, or containers. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other small hostas.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and use appropriate controls if needed.
