Overview
Registered in 2004 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Pathfinder', 'High Country' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, intensely twisted leaves with a dark green, heavily rippled margin and a creamy white center that may exhibit streaking into the margin. The leaf blade measures 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, with 10 vein pairs, and presents a slightly shiny upper surface and dull underside.
In the Garden
'High Country' forms a moderate-growing clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It is a late-emerging cultivar suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. The distinctive white-centered leaves provide strong contrast when paired with green or gold-foliaged companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth begins. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as foliage is susceptible to damage.
