Overview

Registered in 1998 by G. Foster, this miniature hosta forms a compact mound of green leaves with contrasting gold margins. The leaf blade is light green to yellow with a 0.25-inch-wide green border that is slightly rippled, and the leaf surface is dull above with a slight sheen beneath.

In the Garden

'Hidden Cove' reaches a mature diameter of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a height of 4 inches (10.2 cm), with a moderate growth rate and a tidy, mound-like habit. It is well suited for the front of a shaded border, rock gardens, or as an edging plant, and its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants may include other miniature hostas, small ferns, or shade-tolerant groundcovers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from slugs and snails, and note that deer may browse the foliage.
