H. ‘Her Royal Hotness’

Overview

Registered in 2012 from unknown parentage, 'Her Royal Hotness' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its highly glossy, ovate green leaves with streaked white, yellow, and green margins that are slightly rippled. The leaf surface is very shiny above and slightly shiny beneath, with three vein pairs and a moderately folded, moderately wavy blade that tapers at the base.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar reaches approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders due to its miniature size. Its small dimensions also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, where its glossy foliage can be appreciated at close range.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and take protective measures if necessary.
