H. ‘Heart of Hearts’

Overview

Registered in 2011, 'Heart of Hearts' is a variegated medium-sized hosta resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Invincible' and *H.* 'Guacamole'. Its distinctive foliage features medium green margins with a broadly ovate leaf shape and a cordate base, while the leaf surface is slightly shiny above and very shiny beneath.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms an upright clump reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, where the leaf coloration remains stable. The substantial leaf size (7 inches long by 6.5 inches wide) and moderate waviness make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen plant in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
