Overview

Registered in 2012, *Hosta* 'Have a Heart' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Zany Janie' as the pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its nearly round, cupped, and cobbled leaves of green with golden yellow flat margins, forming a dense mound.

In the Garden

'Have a Heart' reaches a mature diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a height of 5 inches (12.7 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, front-of-border positions, or containers due to its compact size. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or dwarf sedges.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed.
