A sport of *Hosta* 'Sun Glow' registered in 1996, 'Handy Hatfield' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, medium gold margins. The foliage is slightly shiny on the upper surface and dull beneath, with rounded leaf bases and slightly rippled edges.

'Handy Hatfield' forms a mound-shaped clump reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland garden settings.
