Overview
Registered in 1999, 'Gummy Bear' is a miniature hosta of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its small, variegated leaves with medium green margins and a slightly shiny surface on both sides, combined with reddish scapes.
In the Garden
'Gummy Bear' forms a compact, slow-growing mound reaching 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter. Its miniature size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs effectively with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. It performs best in partial to full shade and is an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in containers, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
