Overview

Registered in 1995, 'Grey Poupon' is a miniature hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its small, gray-green leaves edged with narrow, deep gold margins, the leaf surface bearing a glaucous bloom on both sides.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a low, dense mound 6 inches (15 cm) tall and 12 inches (30 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, and other miniature hostas.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Grey Poupon' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; take appropriate protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
