Overview

Registered in 2000 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Dawn', 'Green with Envy' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with white margins. The leaves measure 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) in length and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) in width, with four vein pairs and a dull upper surface contrasting with a slightly shiny underside; the margins are greenish white to yellow dark green and slightly rippled, and the leaf base is rounded.

In the Garden

This miniature hosta is suitable for shaded or partially shaded positions in typical hosta-growing zones. Its compact size—with scapes reaching 12 to 15 inches (30.5 to 38.1 cm) in height—makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a border. It pairs well with other small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and its diminutive stature suits container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
