Overview
Registered in 2008, this miniature hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *H. 'Beatrice'* (pod parent) and *H. venusta* (pollen parent). 'Green Quarter' is distinguished by its very small, nearly round leaves with light green margins and a glossy upper surface, forming a compact mound.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and height of 4 inches (10.2 cm), 'Green Quarter' is suited to the front of shade borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small perennials such as dwarf ferns or *Tiarella*. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent candidate for container culture.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
