Hosta ‘Grand Marquee’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2001
Section classIV-6a

Overview

Registered in 2001, this small sport of *Hosta* 'Tokudama' is distinguished by its unusual color reversal: a creamy white leaf center framed by a medium blue-green margin, the inverse of the typical variegation pattern. The broadly ovate leaves measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide, with 11 vein pairs, a rounded base, and a dull, lightly flat texture on both surfaces.

In the Garden

Reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, 'Grand Marquee' forms a compact, mound-like clump suitable for the front of a shaded border or a rock garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white center remains most stable, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small hostas. Its small size also makes it a candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
