Overview
Registered in 2006, *Hosta* 'Graceland' is a variegated sport of *H.* 'Elvis Lives' (pollen parent unknown). Its most distinctive feature is the gradual development of unusually colored butterscotch-like margins on dark green leaves, a trait that emerges as the foliage matures.
In the Garden
This medium-sized hosta reaches approximately 13 inches (33 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate rate of spread. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its broad, ovate leaves with cordate bases form a tidy clump suitable for woodland borders or shaded foundation plantings. The green scapes rise 25 to 30 inches (63.5 to 76.2 cm) above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Graceland' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
