Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Medusa', registered in 2003, 'Gorgon' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its narrow, dark green lanceolate leaves with heavily rippled margins and a slightly twisted, folded habit. The leaves measure 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, with 3 to 5 vein pairs, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a very shiny underside.

In the Garden

'Gorgon' forms a compact, fast-growing mound 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small-scale perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Gorgon' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent. It is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
